Family File Secure Client Portal
Designed and built a secure Softr-based client portal that enables families to organize sensitive information, manage important documents, and securely share access with trusted advisors.

The problem
A startup founder wanted to build a secure self-service platform where families could safely store and manage important personal, medical, financial, and legal information. The application needed role-based access, document management, subscription billing, reminders, and future automation for trusted advisor notifications. The solution was designed from the ground up using Softr Native Database with a scalable relational structure to support future growth.
What we built
Built a secure client portal from scratch using Softr and the Softr Native Database for a subscription-based Family File platform. Designed a scalable relational database architecture supporting personal profiles, medical records, financial information, family contacts, document storage, and other critical records. Implemented role-based permissions allowing one primary account owner with full editing rights and two Trusted Advisors with read-only access. Planned subscription workflows with monthly and annual billing options, document upload capabilities, configurable reminders for document expirations and important dates, and future automated check-in workflows that could notify trusted advisors if a user becomes unresponsive. The application architecture emphasized scalability, maintainability, and an intuitive user experience while providing
- Relational structure covering personal profiles, medical records, financial information and family contacts.
- Document storage held alongside the records it belongs to.
- One primary account owner with full editing rights over the vault.
- Two Trusted Advisor seats, read only, so access is shared without handing over control.
- Subscription workflows with monthly and annual billing options.
- Configurable reminders for document expirations and important dates.

How we built it
Built from scratch on Softr and the Softr Native Database rather than Airtable, so the relational structure could be designed around the record types the product actually holds: profiles, medical, financial, contacts and documents.
Permissions are the load-bearing part. One owner edits, two trusted advisors read, nothing else. Subscription billing, document upload, reminders and the check-in that would notify advisors if a user goes quiet were specified in this phase rather than shipped in it.
