Shopify to Softr Portal Invitation Automation
Automated the customer onboarding process by connecting Shopify purchases to Softr portal invitations and Airtable records.
The problem
An author and digital product business needed to automate member onboarding after customers purchased a book through Shopify. The goal was to eliminate manual data entry by automatically capturing customer details, creating portal users, and sending invitation emails that granted access to a Softr-based member portal immediately after purchase.
What we built
Implemented an automation workflow that connects Shopify, Airtable, and Softr to streamline member onboarding after product purchases. When a customer purchases the Legacy Book through Shopify, the system automatically captures the buyer's first name, last name, and email address, creates or updates the corresponding record in Airtable, and triggers a Softr portal invitation email. The solution removes manual administrative work, ensures customer information is synchronized across platforms, and provides immediate access to the portal experience following a successful purchase. Testing procedures were also established using Shopify discount codes to validate the end-to-end onboarding workflow before launch.
