The problem
A sports media brand wanted to launch an interactive World Cup quiz that matched users with a national team based on cultural identity, emotional preferences, symbolic influences, music tastes, personality traits, and sports fandom. The project required a highly customized scoring engine capable of supporting complex archetype mapping, symbolic locks, weighted routing, tie-break logic, and dynamic result generation while maintaining a distinct brand voice and cultural perspective. The goal was to create a quiz experience that felt intentional, nuanced, and emotionally resonant rather than a generic personality test.
What we built
Developed a custom World Cup team-matching platform that combines quiz responses, symbolic preferences, cultural indicators, music influences, personality traits, and fandom signals to generate highly personalized team recommendations. The solution included a custom scoring and routing engine designed to support weighted archetypes, protected premium team assignments, symbolic lock combinations, tie-break clusters, and emotional profiling logic that could not be reliably implemented through standard no-code branching alone. Airtable was used for data management while Cloudflare powered the scoring and routing layer. The platform also included dynamic result pages with customized narratives, team profiles, rankings, player information, schedules, and explanation-driven outcomes that clarified why a particular team was selected over closely matched alternatives. The architecture was designed to remain flexible for future expansion while supporting rapid launch timelines ahead of the World Cup.
